Meet Your Neighbors at Minto Longbranch!

Meet your soon-to-be Longbranch neighbors, Ernesto and Mary! They are a young and energetic couple who has lived in Toronto their entire lives and are excited to start the next phase of their life in their Longbranch home. The couple met at a Burger King downtown back in 2009 and rest was history! They were married in May 2014 and gave birth to a beautiful baby girl in October 2015. Mary works as a registered nurse at St. Joseph’s Health Centre and Ernesto is a Data Analyst in the heart of Toronto’s financial district.

We sat down with Ernesto and Mary to talk about what they like about the Long Branch neighborhood and what their looking forward to most in their new home.

Neighbour photo 2

Why did you choose to live at Minto Longbranch? What drew you to the Long Branch/Mimico neighborhood?

First and foremost, it was the location and accessibility that drew us to the neighborhood. Given the locations of where we work, we’re both are only a streetcar ride away from our workplace. We didn’t want to move out of the city as we have always been the city type and can’t picture ourselves living in the suburbs. Secondly, we loved the idea of a house-like layout with the structure of condominium. The beauty of it is that there are less common areas and amenities like that of a high-rise thus reducing the cost per square foot and maintenance fees. We love the modern look of Minto Longbranch and feel that it fits our style very well. The fact that it’s located close to the lake is a major bonus as well.

What type of Longbranch home did you buy and why and why did you choose it for your family?

We purchased the New England 2 bed 2 bath plus flex den south facing unit (with parking) closest to the main street which was our number one choice. The layout was the primary reason we chose this unit. We wanted the wide open space of a single floor unit which is more conducive for entertaining as opposed to having the space split between multiple floors. The second bedroom will be a nursery for our baby girl. The flex den can be made into an office space or extra sleeping space if need be. We also like that it’s south facing to allow more natural light in and it’s closest to the main street for better accessibility. The dual storage rooms on opposite sides of the patio also eliminated the need to purchase a locker.

What are you two most looking forward to when you move into your Minto Longbranch home?

As first-time home buyers, we’re both looking forward to decorating and furnishing our new home. We have an idea of how we want our place to look and we are most excited to incorporate our personalities and ideas into our decor and furnishings to make our home special and unique.

Any hobbies or anything else you’d like to tell us about?

We enjoy travelling to different places at least once a year whether it’s to relax under the sun on a beach by the ocean or take in the sights of foreign cities or towns we’ve never been to. We love going out for dinner and having a couple of drinks with our friends and family. To balance out all the eating, we like to hit the gym. If we’re not out doing any of that, we like to spend some time at home and watch some movies which we look forward to doing in our new Minto Longbranch home.

Wow! Kingmeadow Celebrates its’ 400th Move-in!

We’ve had a busy Fall in the Kingmeadow neighbourhood, not only with construction but also with moving homeowners into their new homes. We celebrated  yet another milestone a few weeks ago when we had our 400th move-in at Kingmeadow!

When our 400th home owners, Angleo and Lorena, arrived at their new home after picking up their keys, they were enthusiastically greeted with champagne, yummy treats, and an entire welcoming committee of Minto MasterCare, Construction, and Sales!IMG_20151105_152539

Angelo, Lorena as well as their adorable little son, are all very excited to start this exciting new journey! We were lucky to have a chance to catch up with these new proud home owners and have them tell us everything we wanted to know about them, and their experience so far!

Hi Angelo and Lorena! Nice to meet you, can you tell us a bit about yourselves?

I’m a Toronto Paramedic and in my spare time I love to be outdoors! Some of my other hobbies include hunting and riding my mountain bike and road bike.

Lorena has a background in Interior Design and is a Project Manager for commercial construction projects. Her hobbies include opera singing and reading.

When did you move into your Kingmeadow home?

We took possession on October 30, 2015

Why did you choose to live to Oshawa? What drew you to the Kingmeadow community?

We decided to move to this community from Whitby as it felt like it was up-and-coming area with lots of opportunity for growth potential. We were also drawn to the fact that new homes usually draw new families with children, which was really important for us because we wanted to have our son be able to socialize with other kids!

What type of Kingmeadow home do you live in and why did you choose it?

We chose the Windfield R from the ravine collection. Having a view of trees was important to us and the layout of the house was very appealing due to its’ open concept living and dining room. This design layout made it perfect to sprawl out for our larger dinner parties!

What has your experience been with Minto?

We have been so impressed with Minto and staff. Special shout out to Emma from the Sales Office, Sarah from the Decor Centre and last, but definitely not least, Vince on site. Our encounter with each of these staff members was always met with patience, understanding and kindness.

Have you had a chance to explore the area? Do you have any favorite spots in the city that you like to visit?

We love taking our dog Toby for walks around the pond at Britannia & Bridle. With all the surrounding trees we have seen some beautiful wildlife.

Thank you for Sharing Angelo and Lorena!  The Kingmeadow community is lucky to have such talented, creative, and out-going enthusiasts to join the community! Congratulations and welcome to the neighborhood!

Interested in living in the Kingmeadow community? We still have homes available at Kingmeadow! Check out our website or come visit us at our sales centre today to learn more and choose your dream home!

Meet the Neighbours: Minto Westside

A few months ago we announced that we’re coming to the Front and Bathurst neighbourhood with our project, Minto Westside! We’ve shared some information about the project before but we figured it was due time to share our love of the neighbourhood with you. Here are some of our favourite things to do near Front and Bathurst.

Meet the Neighbours: Melt Grilled Cheese

One of our favourite things to make for lunch is a good grilled cheese sandwich. Two slices of bread and some cheddar cheese and we’re happy campers. Luckily for us and for our Minto Longbranch residents, Melt Grilled Cheese is just down the street and their grilled cheese sandwiches are just a little bit more fancy than the ones we make in our kitchens!

Meet the Neighbours: The Drake General Store

919240_579489888748922_562179174_o

Just a few minutes away from Minto30Roe is Toronto’s very own, Drake General Store, which opened up their second location about a year ago and is a welcome addition the Yonge and Eglinton family.

The Yonge and Eglinton outpost is the largest of the three Drake stores, and our favourite for obvious reasons! We love everything they carry from the cute home trinkets to the Canadian-made knickknacks. Their in-house clothing brand Shared has some of the best adult onesies and longjohns ever (don’t knock ‘em until you’ve worn one on a cold night!), Canadiana goodies from Hudson’s Bay, including the beach towel that you need to take on every cottage trip you’re invited to, and tons of other unique little items.

They also have their own branded items, like Drake Granola, and adorable/hilarious greeting cards that will definitely be remembered far longer than their accompanying gifts. Warning: you might end up buying things you didn’t think you needed but now can’t imagine your life without, like Baconnaise, or a Banana Bowl.

One quick visit and you’ll notice that the Drake General Store loves supporting Canadian artists and designers. There are plenty of tchotchkes from local talent in every Drake General Store, like the cute friendship bracelets from Toronto designer Mai Lin, and the comfy family-made Macausland Throws from Prince Edward Island.

The Drake General Store is located at 2607 Yonge Street, and is open Monday to Saturday from 10 AM to 7 PM, and Sundays from 11 AM to 6 PM.
