Demolition in Yorkville

If you’ve been by the intersection of Cumberland and Bellair lately, you will have noticed that the old office building is coming down as we start to prepare for the construction of Minto Yorkville Park!

Demolition of a structure like this takes careful planning and execution and the demolition team is following a step-by-step engineered process to bring down the old building at 94 Cumberland.

Minto Yorkville Park

The first step of the process was considered largely non-structural & prepatory partial demolition. The demolition crew removed and disposed of any unnecessary equipment and materials including non-structural walls throughout the building.  An opening was cut through each floor to erect the tower crane that will assist in the demolition process such as removing the exterior precast panels of the building as well as bringing down debris.

Next, the demolition contractor will begin to lower the building to the top of the third floor slab using small demolition equipment, which will be operated on the floors of the building. The remainder of the building will be demolished to ground level using demolition excavators equipped with shear, grapple and hammer attachments.

Once the building has been leveled to grade, the crew will demolish and remove the existing foundation of the building, demolishing while backfilling to facilitate the start of excavation & shoring for Minto Yorkville Park.

We’re looking forward to seeing the progress on site at Minto Yorkville Park! We’ll continue to keep you in the loop on construction as the building starts to take off.

Get a Feel For Minto Yorkville Park

We’ve got a treat for you! A few months ago we introduced Minto Yorkville Park, our new luxury Toronto condos coming soon to Bellair & Cumberland. Since the big reveal, we’ve been sharing new renderings as they come out and the response has been amazing. It seems like you’re just as excited as we are to see a beautiful new high-rise come to Yorkville, Toronto’s most sought-after neighbourhood!

Minto Yorkville Park will feature exquisite glass facades and a stunning streetscape podium. The boutique 25-storey tower by Page + Steel/IBI Group Architects will define a sculptural entryway to the heart of the city’s most celebrated address: 88 Cumberland Street. And with a walk score of 100, everything is right at your doorstep.

Up, Up, and Away at Minto30Roe

There’s lots to see at the Minto30Roe site! Construction is moving along quickly now that we’ve cleared street level, and we are well on our way to the top. Take a look at these photos from the site to see how we’re progressing.

30 Roehampton (2014-10-27) Aerial (NW)

We bet you haven’t seen Yonge and Eglinton like this before, have you? This is an image from our aerial camera at the intersection right above Minto30Roe and it shows a great view of what the incredible Minto construction team is up to. If you’re not well-versed in construction processes, this photo shows Minto30Roe proceeding with Level 04 slab and continuing to form the podium shape of the building. This photo does a fantastic job highlighting how far we’ve come since we got to street-level a month ago.

We’re also working on installing the mechanical and electrical components in the framing for the future suites and amenity areas of the building. It’s difficult to see these processes in the photos because a lot of the work is done by hand, inside the building before the concrete is poured.

As you can see, our progress is coming along nicely and before you know it our Minto30Roe will be towering above Yonge and Eglinton.

There are still opportunities to purchase your next home in our building! And now for a limited time you can get up to $10,000 off the purchase of your suite and a FREE locker for all 2 bed suites, plus an additional $5,000 in décor upgrades. If you’re interested, check out our website or give us a call at (416)-915-3812.

Your First Look at Westside’s Exterior

There’s nowhere in Toronto quite like Minto Westside’s cosmopolitan, design-forward and connected way of living. No doubt it’s because Minto Westside represents everything that’s great about life in the heart of the city.

Naturally when it came time for us to design the building with the renowned Wallman Architects, the prerequisite was to create something that would be as bold and vibrant as its neighbourhood. Enter your first look at our exterior rendering!

Our 18 and 20-storey buildings will redefine Bathurst and Front by paying homage to our neighbourhood’s history as Toronto’s original warehouse district. Wallman Architects have reinterpreted the architectural style of the area’s heritage buildings by playfully reimagining the characteristically large windows.

You’ll see the dramatic presence of Minto Westside as you walk by the intersection and look up to the structure of angled columns and brightly colours walls. The two wings of the building are arranged around the central W Courtyard sheltering the private outdoor amenity space. It’s a design that was inspired by our love for European residential buildings and their enclosed outdoor spaces to provide residents with a retreat from the activity of the city.  From the privacy of their recessed balcony, residents will look out into the private courtyard or admire the stunning Toronto skyline.

88 Making Progress in September

88 Sheppard (2014-08-25) Aerial (SW)

Building condos at  Yonge and Sheppard has been a great experience. We have even had the opportunity to watch the construction progress first-hand as the Minto head office is right across the street from 88! We spoke with 88 Project Manager Robert Barth about what’s going on at the site and he had lots of updates to share.

  • The structure is already up to the 25th floor and we’re working our way to the top. The building will end up being a total of 34 floors.
  • The windows have been installed up until the 11th floor.
  • All of the roofs have been waterproofed except the main tower roof.
  • The masonry on the townhomes is 50% complete.
  • And suite construction has started on the lower floors with studs and drywall.

In the coming months, Robert told us we can expect to see lots of activity on the 88 site. Our team will be busy landscaping the outdoor water feature, installing the green roof on the townhomes, and completing the exterior red and white paneling at the base of the tower and townhomes.
