The days might be getting shorter and the weather a bit cooler, but there are still a few weeks left of summer! With Labour Day this weekend, there’s a lot to do before you kiss your summer goodbye. Here are our top suggestions for things to do before the summer officially ends.
Eat your heart out at the CNE
With bacon wrapped grilled cheese and poutine balls this year, as well as classics like funnel cakes and Tiny Toms doughnuts, there are enough greasy gourmet treats to keep you busy at the CNE. If the food is too much for you there are always the rides and games for you to try your luck on! The CNE runs from August 21st to September 7th in Toronto.
Jump on the Jay’s Bandwagon
Since the Jays are one of the favourites to win the World Series this year, now’s a better time than ever to jump on the bandwagon. The regular season goes until the end of September, but tickets are already sold out. That doesn’t mean you can’t catch a game on TV at home or at a sports bar and become a baseball pro just in time for the playoffs.
Buy some art outdoors at the Queen West Art Crawl
If you love art and outdoor markets, then the Queen West Art Crawl is definitely for you. The three day long festival from September 11th -13th is centred in Trinity Bellwoods and spills out along Queen Street. Check out local artists, as well as a New Music Stage, Kids Zone, multiple food vendors and a Craft Beer Garden. Plus come by and visit us at our Minto Westside Tent!
Wander along the waterfront
Walk, run, bike or roller blade along Toronto’s waterfront and take in spectacular lake views while the weather is still warm. From Etobicoke to Scarborough you can stroll across the waterfront trails. Check out trail maps here.
Catch a movie under the stars at the Minto Westside TIFF Outdoor Movie
If you can’t get tickets to catch a flick at TIFF, head over to Minto Westside to watch a movie outdoors in the Westside Market at 25 Bathurst Street on September 17th. We’ll be screening Nicolas Cage’s Valley Girl at 7:30pm. Follow Minto Westside on Facebook for more details!
The Pan Am Games have officially begun and they’re packed with a lot of fun and exciting events to check out around the city. Of course with the Pan Am Games being held in the city, you should take some time to check out a sporting event. With locations all around the GTA, there is a good chance that a sporting event will be held in your neighbourhood. And if you’re checking out a sporting event in the city, the TTC is free if you show your ticket! We’re looking forward to catching as many of these events as we can!
