Although it is only Spring, warm tropical flavors have already taken over our senses here in King West! Lawai’a Poke Bar opened its doors to the public last week and our team was so excited to finally try it out!
‘Poke’ , which is Hawaiian for “to slice or cut” is healthy, delicious and totally unique. Poke is a s popular Hawaiian dish, a bowl that usually consists of rice, fish and veggies.
While Poke is a new trend in Toronto, this simple and addictive Hawaiian dish has been around for centuries. Minto Westside homeowners will be extra lucky to have Lawai’a just around the corner!
Lawai’a lets you order delicious classic combos, or build your own bowl with seasonal fresh ingredients. You have a variety of selections of grains, proteins and toppings to get creative and structure your perfect bowl!
We hope we got you as hungry as we are! Head on over today for some lunch or dinner!

The Minto Westside team reached a very important construction milestone onsite this week – they erected the first tower crane! This is always an exciting time as it means that the concrete structure work will soon be getting underway! This crane is the first of 4 in total that will be required to construct the complete underground garage and the towers above, until September.
In early Fall, construction will be full steam ahead with the pouring of the first footings. The team closely monitors and adjusts their process to ensure that they can get as much of the slab-on-grade poured before the winter arrives. It’s hard to imagine that winter is just around the corner with this beautiful warm weather outside, but the Minto team is always looking ahead to optimize activity onsite to expedite work!
In the meantime, the start of foundation work has begun. The excavation and shoring trades are working on the North end of the site. Their work includes the installation of the last few tiebacks that act to retain the shoring system, as well as building the final exit ramp at the north end of the site.
This should be in place by mid next week, at which time removal of the ramp currently positioned at the middle of the site off Bathurst Street will commence. This will really open up the site and allow us maximum opportunity to continue the efficient pace of work that we have been able to take advantage of to date.
Sounds exciting, the site is sure busy with activity! A very special thank you to Keri Washer, Senior Project Manager for Minto Westside, for keeping us in the loop and always providing us with much anticipated construction updates!
