Wow! Kingmeadow Celebrates its’ 400th Move-in!

We’ve had a busy Fall in the Kingmeadow neighbourhood, not only with construction but also with moving homeowners into their new homes. We celebrated  yet another milestone a few weeks ago when we had our 400th move-in at Kingmeadow!

When our 400th home owners, Angleo and Lorena, arrived at their new home after picking up their keys, they were enthusiastically greeted with champagne, yummy treats, and an entire welcoming committee of Minto MasterCare, Construction, and Sales!IMG_20151105_152539

Angelo, Lorena as well as their adorable little son, are all very excited to start this exciting new journey! We were lucky to have a chance to catch up with these new proud home owners and have them tell us everything we wanted to know about them, and their experience so far!

Hi Angelo and Lorena! Nice to meet you, can you tell us a bit about yourselves?

I’m a Toronto Paramedic and in my spare time I love to be outdoors! Some of my other hobbies include hunting and riding my mountain bike and road bike.

Lorena has a background in Interior Design and is a Project Manager for commercial construction projects. Her hobbies include opera singing and reading.

When did you move into your Kingmeadow home?

We took possession on October 30, 2015

Why did you choose to live to Oshawa? What drew you to the Kingmeadow community?

We decided to move to this community from Whitby as it felt like it was up-and-coming area with lots of opportunity for growth potential. We were also drawn to the fact that new homes usually draw new families with children, which was really important for us because we wanted to have our son be able to socialize with other kids!

What type of Kingmeadow home do you live in and why did you choose it?

We chose the Windfield R from the ravine collection. Having a view of trees was important to us and the layout of the house was very appealing due to its’ open concept living and dining room. This design layout made it perfect to sprawl out for our larger dinner parties!

What has your experience been with Minto?

We have been so impressed with Minto and staff. Special shout out to Emma from the Sales Office, Sarah from the Decor Centre and last, but definitely not least, Vince on site. Our encounter with each of these staff members was always met with patience, understanding and kindness.

Have you had a chance to explore the area? Do you have any favorite spots in the city that you like to visit?

We love taking our dog Toby for walks around the pond at Britannia & Bridle. With all the surrounding trees we have seen some beautiful wildlife.

Thank you for Sharing Angelo and Lorena!  The Kingmeadow community is lucky to have such talented, creative, and out-going enthusiasts to join the community! Congratulations and welcome to the neighborhood!

Meet another one of your Longbranch Neighbours!

Meet Christa, a very excited future-resident of Minto Longbranch! Aside from her enthusiastic admiration for the neighborhood’s mix of nature and city living, she has many reasons why the Longbranch/Mimico community is a perfect match for her lifestyle!

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

About 3 years ago, I moved to Canada. I grew up and spent most of my life in Switzerland. So why leave that beautiful place? Well, I needed a change. Been there, done that. And if not now, when would I ever explore another great part of the world. I have not had any regrets since.

I love my job in the pharmaceutical industry and was lucky enough to be able to move within my company to their Mississauga office. What a stroke of luck it was that this gave me the opportunity to move to the GTA which has so much to offer: from city living and amenities, culture, all the way to farms and nature.

Why did you choose to live at Minto Longbranch? What drew you to the Long Branch/Mimico neighbourhood?

The proximity to the lake and public transport drew me in at first. The location cannot be beat. I can hit Hwy. 427 to get to work and on weekends I can easily catch a train to get downtown – and being so close to transit means there is no problem enjoying a drink or two as I’m out. There are some great culinary finds in the area and shopping is so close. It has been a while since I could just walk to the supermarket and ditch the car.

Although, the floor plan layouts and the unique exterior of the Minto Longbranch development gave the final deciding factor. The buildings have a very European touch. I felt well taken care of by the sales staff and so the decision to buy instead of renting somewhere else was an easy one to make.

What type of Longbranch home did you buy and why did you choose it?

I bought the Providence SP at first,  but when I went through the plan in detail at home over the weekend I came to realize that that unit was just not big enough for my purposes. So I went back to the Sales Centre and bought the Urban SP instead (thank goodness it was still available!). I am thrilled with the open plan living room and kitchen area. The rooftop is a great bonus and I can already envision having neighbours and friends over and chilling out.

What are you most looking forward to when you move into your Minto Longbranch home?

What I hope for is to be part of and get involved in the community. Being new to the neighbourhood is something we will all have in common, so I’m excited to meet everyone and see them outdoors in the area, on our way to work. I can’t wait to feel connected to where I live.

Any hobbies or anything else you’d like to tell us about?

In my free time, I love to bake and cook. Over 200 cook books grace my shelves and I find it very inspirational to just browse through my books. My co-workers are spoiled by now as I bring baked goods into work at least once a month if not more. And perhaps sharing with neighbours will allow me to experiment even further. I love to be around produce and anything food related, I volunteer at a local farmer’s market – a tough job as I start is 5am, but so rewarding. Cherry, peach, nectarine, plum and apricot picking are a favourite past time of mine as well, including making jam and pies with these wonderful fruits.

And last but not least, what would life be without travelling? I love going on trips close and far. Road trips are definitely top of my list for a great time, but I also enjoy flying to anywhere in the world that’s new or re-visiting some of the great places I’ve visited in the past. I love to explore new things and places – and getting to know new friends.

We look forward to tasting Christa’s delicious baked goods and are so happy that she is a part of the Minto Longbranch community!

300th Move-In at Kingmeadow

We’ve had a busy summer in the Kingmeadow neighbourhood, not only with construction but also with moving homeowners into their new homes. We celebrated a milestone a few weeks ago when we had our 300th move-in at Kingmeadow!

When our 300th home owners, Jessica and Nicholas, arrived at their new home after picking up their keys, they were greeted with champagne, cupcakes, and an entire welcoming committee made up of the Minto MasterCare, Construction, and Sales Teams.

Jessica and Nicholas grew up in Whitby and so they chose to buy a home in Kingmeadow to be close to their families. The area is ideal for them because of the location, with the 407 coming through and the new RioCan shopping mall coming to the community. Jessica is a nurse who works nearby at the Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences in Whitby, and Nicholas is a steel stud framer who has worked on Minto projects such as Minto775 and Minto WaterGarden.

The two are high school sweethearts and Kingmeadow is their first home together. They both went to school at UOIT down the street, so they’re familiar with the area. “We’ll probably be at the St. Louis Wings down the street a lot!” Nicholas told us.

Jessica and Nicholas are excited to start their new chapter of their lives together at Kingmeadow, and they’re looking forward to seeing the community develop. Congratulations and welcome to the neighbourhood!
